Palestinian family devastated by son's death - Human rights groups say Israeli army had no reason to use live ammunition after two youths were killed on Nakba day. - Rania Zabaneh - Nadim was standing around 300 metres away from the Israeli soldiers when he was shot  - Nadim Nuwwara had a killer smile, one that would defuse his mother's anger whenever she would scold him. A smile she would now give her all to have back. - On May 15, 17-year-old Nadim joined his friends in a march to mark the 66th Nakba commemoration and express solidarity with hunger striking Palestinian prisoners. Clashes between Palestian youths and Israeli security forces erupted at the Israeli military prison of Ofer. During a lull in the confrontations, security camera footage mounted on a nearby store shows Nadim receiving a shot and falling to the ground. >>>

Israeli FM rejects criticism over shot Palestinians - Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman on Wednesday brushed off world criticism and demands for an investigation into the deaths of two Palestinian youths killed by Israeli forces last week. "I reject any demand" for an international investigation, he told reporters on a tour of the West Bank settlement of Ariel. "Such an incident will be investigated regardless of any demand," he remarked, denouncing world criticism of the incident as "hypocrisy". His remarks came a day after calls by Washington and a top UN official for an immediate investigation into the circumstances of the two deaths after video footage emerged which appeared to show the shooting was unprovoked. The closed-circuit footage, released on Wednesday by the NGOs Defence For Children International and B'Tselem, appeared to show separate incidents in which two youngsters were shot as they walked down the same street near Ramallah as Palestinians marked the 66th anniversary of the Nakba or "catastrophe" of Israel's creation. >>>

Israel asked to investigate shooting of Palestinian teenagers  - Demands follow the emergence of footage suggesting two Palestinian youths posed no danger when they were shot - Robert Tait - Israel is under pressure from the US and United Nations to investigate the fatal shootings of two Palestinian youths who appeared to pose no threat at the time of their deaths, according to video recordings of the incidents. The calls followed the emergence of footage purporting to show the killings of Musaab Nuwarah, 20, and Mohammed Udeh, 17, in the West Bank town of Beitunia at a May 15 demonstration marking Nakba (catastrophe) Day, when Palestinians lament the foundation of the state of Israel. >>>

Yaalon defends IDF over ‘video evidence’ of shootings - Israel has defended the actions of its soldiers over the fatal shooting of two Palestinians during a West Bank protest last week. - A video has emerged of the incident on May 15 at a Nakba Day rally at Ofer Prison near Ramallah which Palestinians are claiming shows that neither of the rioters posed a threat at the time when they were shot. In a statement on Tuesday, Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon said the Israeli soldiers acted appropriately, as they “were in a situation where their lives were in danger”. >>>

In Palestine and Israel, there are no 'clashes' - A video shows two Palestinian boys were killed in calm circumstances, not in 'clashes'. - Charlotte Silver - Charlotte Silver is an independent journalist currently based in San Francisco. She has written for Inter Press Service, Truthout, The Electronic Intifada, Al Ahkbar and many other publications. She is a graduate of Stanford University. - Palestinians protest the colonisation and theft of their land, the kidnapping and imprisonment of their children, the indefinite detention of their fathers and brothers, mothers and sisters. Israelis fortify their occupation, justify their right to detain without charge, and deny their theft of Palestinians' water, resources and land. And yet "clashes" defines the interaction between Palestinians and Israelis, so much that "clashes" have become a story that we think we already know. On May 15, two teenage boys were shot dead in the West Bank, outside Ofer Prison. The boys had been demonstrating on al-Nakba - the annual commemoration of the expulsion of Palestinians from their homes by Zionist militias in order to establish the state of Israel between 1947 and 1948.  >>>

Video showing Palestinian youth killings renews questions over Israel’s use of force - Security-camera footage showing two unarmed Palestinians crumpling to the ground during a lull in a stone-throwing clash with Israeli soldiers revived allegations by human rights activists Tuesday that the troops regularly use excessive force. The Israeli rights group B’Tselem said the images back its findings that troops killed the teens without cause by firing live rounds from more than 200 meters away. The soldiers were in “zero danger” at the time, said Sarit Michaeli of B’Tselem. >>>

Video footage of Israel Defense Forces (IDF) fatally shooting two Palestinian teens has generated anger throughout Palestine and the global online community.
